It looks much better in print as it took up 2/3 of a page and the photo was HUGE but here's an idea of what one of my first attempts to "get my name out there" looked like.

Great idea Paul. Nice article too. Did they edit or did you have complete control? Anyway, good job! Hope it brings in some work!

I didn't actually write it. A reporter iterviewed me and wrote it first person. They run this article every week and always write it first person. I'm not sure if that is the best way of writing it or not but it isn't my call.
You look hot.
That kind of goes without saying.

BTW I need to get Mr. Miller to write me a little quote/review. That would look good on my site.

Paul,

Excellent marketing move!

I think one of the great misconceptions about marketing is that it always costs a lot of money. A wise businessperson finds ways to get big impact from little (or no) dollars.

I have gotten 3 articles so far in trade magazines (twice for my tiny exotic lumber company, and once for a cabinet shop where I worked), simply by thinking of a new "angle" on an old theme and calling each magazine's editor. Magazines are always looking for topics, and all the editors I have spoken to were friendly and helpful.

So, here's some applause for your no-cost marketing technique!

Dennis

Congrats, Paul. Our local paper did an article on me a few years back, written in the third person. I like the approach your paper took even better. Personal, chatty, informative, the love shows through.
Get it laminated and hang a copy in your shop.

Steve

Yeah, I suppose it didn't occur to him to say, "this guitar is nice but Paul Woolson builds an AWESOME guitar!" Live to Regis. Oh I can dream can't I?

haha.. I don't think he got to talk, and he is playing electric not acoustic,
but hey I'll get a quote from him when I talk to him. He called and just
left a message, but I missed it, so I'm gonna call him back tomorrow. I'm
really jazzed for him.

Who are we talking about?... clearly this isn't "Steve Miller" as in the 70's classic rock guy... or are we?

Sorry don't mean to be dumb.

haha.. yeah it sounds cool to say Steve Miller loves pauls guitars, but of
course we aren't talking about THE steve miller. It is steve miller my good
friend. You met him Brock. He was the guy with me at healdsburg. He
plays guitar for Ryan Cabrera.

That is what I thought... but then you started talking about National TV, MTV etc. and I questioned my assumptions there for a sec.
